Artist Statement
This work was made in 2020 during the time of the COVID19 Pandemic and global outcry for help. Personally, I found solace in nature, in sitting with myself, and searching for a place of calm, despite uncertainty. When faced with the unknown, wartime, upheaval and resistance, what can one do while they sit in their home and wait? Do they find floral colors and shapes take over their imagination as they plan for a brighter future? Do they make a plan of action in their community or find resistance through rest? This collage work aims to elicit reflection and promoted conversation through viewing your lens and experience in the sofa seat during a time of unrest and global outcry.
About the Artist
I'm Morgan, a mixed media artist who is passionate about community. I am deeply interested in how art builds and shapes connections through storytelling. Reclaiming experiences through art is my jam and I have built an online, free community for artists to connect around the world: Lava Lamp Lounge.
