Artist Statement
The Medusa imagery alone is an act of resistance. She was a cast out and vilified, harmed femme who took her power back. The words Rise rest in her belly, her core, displaying that she knows who she is. Her heart beats outside her chest. She doesn’t hide, she is fierce, magnetic, alluring, and strong (I am honestly not sure if there was any AI imagery in this piece. I don’t always know what constitutes as AI. I used photos I took along with stock images. This work was made using a photo editing app, but all imagery was placed and designed by me accept for some of the stock images)
About the Artist
Moan Wolf is a poet, artist and performer based in Portland. OR. Her focus is on empowerment and rebelling against societal norms that aim to oppress and keep people small. She uses different art forms to as a channel to return to herself when she feels lost or overwhelmed and as a return to whimsy, sexual alchemy, silliness and exploration. She is a multifaceted witch with a lot to say and hopes through using her eclectic voice she will inspire others to rise up and be their fullest selves.
