Artist Statement
This piece reflects my own struggle with interpersonal relationships. The collage itself is an act of resistance toward my own tendency to place others on a pedestal and depend on them for emotional security.
About the Artist
My name is Meredith Pryce, a Clintonville, OH-based artist working in collage and mixed media since the age of fourteen. Using found materials, I create layered compositions that balance intention with discovery.
Collage is a meditative process for me. I often begin with a feeling or idea and allow the materials to shape the work as it unfolds. My practice explores the relationship between fear and desire, two driving forces which are deeply connected. Through fragmented imagery and unexpected juxtapositions, I investigate the tension between attraction and avoidance, longing and hesitation.
By assembling disparate materials into new forms, I create spaces for ambiguity, contradiction, and connection. While rooted in personal experience, my work invites viewers to bring their own interpretations and emotional associations to each piece.
