Artist Statement

This piece is about personal survival. Coming from seven years of chronic pain, to now a rehabilitation phase. Still dealing with daily pain, but able to do a lot more. This piece is about the transition from survival to independence. The struggle is still there--but it's different. Trying to figure out who I am now that I am more mobile, who am I as an artist? I am confused, excited, hesitant yet motivated.

About the Artist

I am Kellette, art educator and artist. I make autobiographical art related to my childhood, my chronic pain, my daily struggles and daily wins! I want people to look at my art and connect with it whether they see themselves or they understand me better.
