Artist Statement
I am so angry about how the powerful exploit the majority of the world for personal gain. Oppression , genocide, destruction abound in the name of 'progress'. When considering how to respond, I realise that shouting loudly is important but uses a lot of energy. I'm interested in what we can say that sends a positive message of change, a counter narrative. So I make collages, add text, photocopy them as large as i can and paste them around my city. This one was part of a series 'Buy Less' which I pasted on the dreadful Black Friday. I'll send you the original and I don't need it back so if anyone wants it I'm happy to sell it for a small amount to cover the postage.
About the Artist
I started making collages during lockdown in 2020 and can't stop. I'm excited to find a way of making art which is accessible and inclusive. I've found a brilliant international community of supportive people who give me ideas, feedback and opportunities. I've recently taken to pasting my art on the streets as a response to the forces which are making the UK (and the world) a divided place. I use a lot of found materials, discarded packaging, torn billboards, books that are thrown away and turn them into something which makes a new kind of sense.
