My recent work is a processing of trauma, fear, anger and resentment from health problems and cruel treatment i experienced with the death of family. I ten to run on duality and an ever present humor.
To explain a more detailed aspect of what motivates my recent work-- its personal but not a pleasant story- butnif you need to really know about the origins of my recent work- it has to be heard- i do recommend it to be viewed on instagram.
<Long story short is im the youngest of 4- im somethign of a black shrep of my fathers family and while my other siblings wereeaised equally bad they still were alotted this sense of autonomy an motivation that made them successful people while i was treated like a piece ofnproperty or an employee not a fanily member. i witnssed my father pass from cancer in late 2022, and instead of coming together, his wife and 3 other kids were covetting his will, cut only me out of it and proceed to circulate a myriad of lies that i was the contributing factor to him dying from cancer. By this time i was 33 and that entire family ruined my life/ i didnt get to really try for art as a career because the man largely interfered in my life, controlled my life for that long- my siblings didnt have that and after the will stuff it shows- my heslth issues started as gallstones that exacerbated into stroke, and other issues due to infection, necrosis and sepsis dur to injury caused to my pancreas- and iended up losing enough of it i basically no longer have a pancreas, andim now wheel chair bound and strugglingin life overall. I almost died and that family i previously mentioned didnt show an ounce of concern- they accidentally were circulating a group text saying how they believe i was faking it, and my fathers wife later telling everyone im a drug addict because i found out hours after coming out of a coma she cut me out of the will. The poverty how many people do you know are financially sound after being stuck in the hospital for an entire year? Any ive been struggling ever since and i dont expect anything but again- wont know if i dont try>
My art is my processing to not let being in hardship dictate the course of my life- probably wont work but how will i know if i dont attempt it? Im trying to represent things in a way that is suitable for resisting, but let people know the negatives are there-- you can either put your head in the sand-- or confront it.
